Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Full-Time Kitchen Attendant at West Hospital to support Nutrition Services. You will assist in preparing meals for regular and therapeutic diets, operate kitchen equipment, and maintain a clean and organized workspace in a rotating shift pattern.

The role requires ability to wear protective gear, follow health regulations, and perform physical tasks including occasional ladder use and lifting up to 80% of the time.

Qualifications

Schedule: Full-Time Rotating Shifts

Work Location: West Hospital (Onsite)

Department Supported: Nutrition Services

Primary Responsibilities

Performs supervised tasks related to the preparation of food. Meal preparations include regular and therapeutic diets. Utilizes foundational skills of basic cooking techniques, operates kitchen equipment and maintains a clean and organized workspace.

Candidate Qualifications

• Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
• Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.

Candidate Preferred

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is preferred.
• No experience is required. Prior food service experience is preferred.
