• Interact with residents and staff to ensure satisfaction and accurate service.
• Maintain sanitation standards per state health regulations and keep a clean, safe work area.
• Be flexible with work hours and assist with inventory and ordering as needed.
• Label, wrap, and date unused foods; lift up to 50 lbs.

Position Summary

The Cook performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department, including preparing meals correctly and timely, supervising staff, and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Cook oversees and supports the staff.

Qualifications

• High School or Culinary Technology Graduate.
• Ability to read, understand and follow recipes, production sheet counts, diet orders, tray tickets, and all employee work responsibilities and flows.
• Understand after training on computer software system for resident information and preferences.
• Must be ServSafe Certified or able to earn within the first 90 days of starting.

Duties

• The Cook works under the direction of the Dietary Manager.
• Prepare and portion hot and cold menu items according to the proper menu and recipe as noted on the production sheet counts.
• Serve resident meals according to the correct meal service times.
• Provide coverage for any staff members who call out due to illness.
• Ensure all correct food and equipment temperatures are recorded by meal.
• Interact with residents and facility employees daily to ensure residents are satisfied and are being provided correctly.
• Maintain the highest standard of sanitation as required by state Department of Health regulations.
• Practice a clean, safe work environment.
• Willing to work flexible work hours.
• Track inventory and communicate to the Dietary Manager when supplies are low or place orders for needed items.
• Label, wrap and date all unused food items in the correct areas.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Support and follow Pollak Innovation Management and facility Policies and Procedures.

Absence of Dietary Manager

• Assure staff are clocking in on time as per their schedule.
• Discipline staff not completing their job assignments correctly.
• Conduct daily huddle meetings for staff communication and direction.
