Job summary

Gerrity's Supermarkets in Luzerne, PA, is seeking a full-time Cook for the Deli department. You will support the Head Chef and Deli Manager, maintaining professional service and high standards for food quality and sanitation.

Responsibilities include setting up the hot foods case, preparing entrees, stocking inventories, keeping a clean kitchen, and adhering to safety policies. Must be 18+, able to lift 40 lb, and communicate in English. Pay is $17 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
• Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, such as pounds and weight increments.
• Ability to hear, speak, and understand the spoken word.
• Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency in order to read and understand.
• Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and taste or smell.

• Will be present at your workstation at the start of your shift.
• Comply fully with all safety policies and proceduresAdhere to Customer Service Pledge at all times.
• Maintain a neat, professional appearance at all times while working and strictly adhere to the Dress Code policy.
• Attendance at your job is essential to the overall function of your department.

Job Description

The Cook is responsible for performing duties as directed by the Deli Manager and/or Head Chef for the successful operation of the Deli Department. It is essential that as a Cook, you will present yourself in a professional and courteous manner at all times while performing your defined responsibilities. You are responsible for always maintaining our high standards of Customer Service. Other duties may be assigned as required, depending upon the available time, business volume and other criteria as determined by your appropriate supervisors and/or Gerrity’s Supermarkets. Full compliance with current and future policies will be required to ensure that your work contribution is in the best interest of Gerrity’s Supermarkets.
