Overview

Chartwells K12, part of Compass Group, is hiring a full‑time Cook for the Mamaroneck School District (1000 West Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY 10543). Applications accepted online only. This position is full‑time; work days may vary, 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. Pay ranges from $19.00 to $20.00 per hour. Referrals of employees earn a referral bonus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high‑quality food items according to standardized recipes and production schedules.
• Serve meals or prepare them for delivery using correct portioning, temperature control, and presentation standards. Taste all food items.
• Collect tickets during service and maintain accurate records of all work.
• Clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high cleanliness standards. Store or discard excess food following safe handling procedures.
• Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and orderly; store food and supplies per standards.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed.
• Assist in production planning, record keeping, and reporting.
• Assist in ordering and receiving food and supplies.
• Report maintenance needs, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Attend in‑service and safety meetings.
• Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers.
• Perform all duties safely and maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and temperature maintenance of service items, following HACCP standards.
• Show personal commitment to safety for oneself and others.
• Abide by all Company policies, including:
  • Use of medium‑weight cut gloves when handling knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins, or cleaning slicers.
  • Use of oven mitts, fryer gloves, or steamer gloves when handling hot pans.
  • Use of slip‑resistant shoes and proper lifting technique.
