City of Lynchburg is seeking a qualified full-time Cook to prepare and serve meals in a secure detention facility. The role requires working all shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays, in a team environment under supervision.
Duties include cooking to a set menu, operating kitchen equipment, and maintaining sanitation and cleanliness. Responsibilities expand to inventory, ordering supplies, preparing meals for transport to pods, and assisting in ensuring timely service.

Looking for a qualified full-time Cook to prepare and serve meals in a secure detention facility. Must be available to work all shifts and on evenings, weekends and holidays. Work is performed in a team environment under the regular supervision of the Food Service Supervisor. Must work well with others. Must be able to cook and prepare meals according to a set menu and to operate various types of kitchen equipment, and responsible for kitchen clean-up. Work rotating shift as needed: 4:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Salary negotiable depending on relevant experience.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
High school diploma or general education degree.
Experience in cooking foods in large quantities. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Prior to employment must have Criminal Record Check, and reference checks completed, and Child Protective Services check initiated. Prior to onset of employment must have tuberculin and drug screen as part of physical examination.
Must successfully completeIS100andIS700National Incident Management (NIMS) training within 90 days of employment. May also be required to complete higher levels ofNIMStraining as determined appropriate for the position.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and obtain ServSafe certification.
