Job summary

The-Atriums in Kansas is seeking an experienced cook to prepare and serve nutritious meals for residents and guests in a fast-paced setting. You will follow planned menus, use standard portions, and ensure meals are ready on time while maintaining a clean, safe kitchen in compliance with health regulations.

Long periods of standing and lifting up to 50 pounds are required. Two or more years cooking for large groups is preferred, with a High School Diploma or GED.

The Cook prepares and serves nutritious, attractive meals and maintains the cleanliness of the food production and service areas. The ideal candidate has demonstrated skills as a cook and can prepare a wide range of foods skillfully while following the rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Prepares and serves meals as indicated on planned menus using standardized portion sizes and approved substitutionsEnsures that meals are served at scheduled times, planning and organizing food preparation tasks appropriatelyCompletes all clean-up duties as needed after each meal serviceFollows cleaning schedules and sanitation checklists to ensure kitchen and food service areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary conditionEnsures that resident, staff, and guest meals are accounted for according to established proceduresEnsures that resident food preferences are metObserves and reports to the Director of Food Service or Executive Director any problems, concerns, or issues regarding the Food Service DepartmentPerforms other duties as assignedQualifications & Physical Requirements:Must demonstrate successful employment as a cookMust be able to prepare and serve a wide range of foods skillfullyMust be able to regularly lift up to 30 pounds, to occasionally lift more than 50 pounds, and to spend long periods of time standingMust have a working knowledge of the rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparationMust be able to organize and use time appropriately to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervisionEducation & Experience:High School Diploma or GED requiredTwo or more years of experience cooking for large groups preferredExperience preparing special diets preferred, including low sodium, low cholesterol, diabetic, and vegetarianThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee in this position.
