Job summary

Kenmore Tonawanda UFSD is seeking a cook with experience in preparing food in large quantities for a 10-month school schedule. The role requires strong knowledge of sanitation, safety, and following recipes, plus the ability to step in as Cook Manager across any kitchen in the district.

Candidates should have a year of large-scale cooking experience, Serve Safe or ICN food safety training, and the stamina to work in a busy school kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in the preparation of food on a large scale or equivalent
• Serve Safe Certified or ICN 8 hours Food Safety Training
• Knowledge of health, sanitation and safety requirements
• Ability to follow oral and written directions and recipes
• Must have physical strength and stamina
• Must be able to create an atmosphere in the school kitchen that inspires fellow employees

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and bake food in large quantities according to recipes and menus.
• Maintain cleaning methods and sanitary conditions in kitchen and equipment.
• Follow oral and written directions and standardized recipes precisely.
• Demonstrate physical stamina required for kitchen tasks.
• Fill in as Cook Manager for any kitchen within the District as needed.

Job description

Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (6.5 hours per day, 32.5 hours per week) 10 month duty schedule

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Good knowledge of the methods of preparing, cooking and baking food in large quantities;
• good knowledge of cleaning methods and of the use of cleaning materials and equipment;
• ability to follow oral and written directions and recipes;
• physical strength and stamina;
• good physical condition.

Minimum Qualifications:

• One year of experience in the preparation of food on a large scale and completion of a standard grade school course;
• or any satisfactory equivalent combination of the foregoing training and experience.

Special Qualifications:

• Must be Serve Safe Certified or have completed 8 hours of Food Safety Training from ICN.
• Also, must have knowledge of health, sanitation and safety requirements;
• must be able to create an atmosphere in the school kitchen that inspires fellow employees to be willing to work.

Must be available to fill in as Cook Manager for any kitchen within our District.
