Job summary

Aramark in Olympia is seeking a Cook to bring recipes to life using fresh ingredients and available equipment. You'll contribute creatively, follow production guidelines, and work with various cuisines and cooking styles.

In this role you will prep, cook, portion, and present food while maintaining safety standards and excellent guest service. The position is on-site with comprehensive benefits and opportunities to learn and grow.

Qualifications

• Previous cook or similar role required.
• Knowledge of food preparation and safety regulations.
• Ability to obtain food safety certification.
• Basic math and counting skills.

Responsibilities

• Cook and prepare a variety of food according to guidelines and recipes.
• Set up workstation with ingredients and equipment.
• Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, chopping, trimming, and peeling.
• Safely use knives and operate ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers.
• Bake, roast, broil, steam, and cook meat and vegetables.
• Arrange, garnish, and portion food per guidelines.
• Store food following safety policies.
• Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment.
• Maintain customer service and positive demeanor.
• Follow Aramark safety policies and asset security.

Compensation Data

COMPENSATION: The Hourly rate for this position is $17.13 to $20.63. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
• Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
• Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
• Safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
• Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
• Bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
• Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines
• Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
• Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
• Ensures security of company assets

Qualifications

• Experience as a cook or in a related role required
• Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
• Must be able to acquire food safety certification
• Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
• Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
