Job summary

The Goddard School in Lake in the Hills is seeking a Cook/Chef to manage meal service for the school day. This full-time role requires attention to detail and good organization, with hours from 7:00am to 1:00pm or 2:00pm and 6 hours per day, depending on responsibilities.

The position offers a $500 signing bonus, full pay during Christmas and New Year when the school is closed, 401(k) matching, health insurance, paid time off, and other benefits to support your work.

Qualifications

• A Chef should preferably have, or be willing to obtain, certification as a Food Service Manager as required by the Food Handling Regulation Enforcement Act.
• Ability to prepare and serve food in accordance with laws and regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with school personnel, children and parents.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations relating to food handling
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen/pantry
• Ensuring the safe handling and preparation of all foods; breakfast, lunch and snacks
• Plan nutritious menus in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Plan substitution meals for children on vegetarian or medical diets
• Communicate with families supplementing the school menu with food from home to meet nutritional requirements and proper packaging
• Maintain appropriate portion sizes
• Managing the food budget

Overview

A Cook/Chef at The Goddard School (A Childcare center) – Lake in the Hills is responsible for meal service at the school. The Chef must have a good attention to detail and good organization skills. This is a full time position (minimum 6 hours/day from 7:00am-1:00 or 2:00pm) with hours dependent on the scope of responsibilities. A signing bonus of $500 will be given. In addition, we pay full pay during Xmas and New Year when school is closed for the Holidays.

Qualifications

• prepare and serve food, in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations
• communicate effectively with school personnel, children and parents
