Job summary

Brethren Care Village in Ashland, Ohio is seeking a Part-Time Cook for Assisted Living. You will prepare meals, coordinate dietary needs, and support residents with nutritious options following physician orders and dietary restrictions.

Onsite work is required. Prior cooking experience is preferred; ServSafe Certification is a plus, but not required. You will join a mission-driven team dedicated to compassionate, individualized care.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent required or preferred.
• Prior cooking experience in a restaurant or institutional setting is preferred but not required.
• ServSafe Certification is a PLUS, but not required.
• Onsite presence required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meals according to menu and serves meals in a timely manner.
• Coordinates dietary functions and/or special events.
• Responsible for prep work for next day.
• Maintains sanitation and clean work area; performs daily sanitation.
• Washes pots and pans; records daily food temperatures.
• Notifies dietary manager of diet changes and prepares foods for activities.
• Attends dietary meetings and facility in-services.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Cook supports our mission and values by providing high quality food service to all residents and employees; promoting optional nutritional status for each resident by providing a diet in accordance with physician's orders and consistent with the resident's ethnic, cultural and religious and general food preferences and restrictions which the facility can readily accommodate.

The Cook's primary responsibilities include:

• Prepares meals according to menu and ensures meals are served in a timely manner.
• Coordinates dietary functions and/or special events.
• Responsible for prep work for next day.
• General sanitation procedures, including performing tasks on a cleaning schedule, daily sanitation evaluations, maintaining a clean work area at all times, etc.
• Responsible for washing pots and pans.
• Records daily temperatures on foods, and on refrigerators and freezer.
• Informs dietary manager of any diet changes from nursing.
• Responsible for preparing foods for special activities.
• Responsible for putting stock away.
• Attends dietary meetings.
• Attends facility in-services.
• Other duties as assigned.
