Job summary

McPherson Hospital Inc. is seeking an AM Cook to prepare and produce meals for Meals-On-Wheels, the café, and in-patients according to menus provided by the Director of Dietary. The role involves monitoring food production and inventory to prevent waste and ensure timely service in a hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school education minimum; age 16+ (18+ to operate kitchen equipment).
• Minimal/no prior cooking experience required.
• Able to work in a hospital setting with safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Review menus for Meals-On-Wheels and hospital meals to prepare meals in a timely manner.
• Initiate production of all meals and delegate/prioritize tasks as needed.
• Monitor inventory and report shortages or surpluses to prevent waste and meet demand.
• Maintain a clean workspace to ensure a safe food environment.
• Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure productive operations.
• Analyze upcoming menus to determine output of goods and materials.
• Operate and monitor kitchen appliances to maintain temperature and storage safety.
• Organize and arrange delivered goods to keep workspace efficient.
• Work well under pressure and multitask.

Cook Job Summary: The AM Cook collaborates with Meals-On-Wheels, the café, and in-patients to prepare and produce requested recipes and meals based upon the menus provided by the Director of Dietary. Monitors food production and inventory to prevent waste or additional food storage. Other duties as assigned.

Cook Essential Accountabilities

• Reviews menus for Meals-On-Wheels and hospital meals to prepare and organize services in a timely manner.
• Initiates production of all meals and can delegate and prioritize tasks as needed.
• Monitors inventory of goods and reports any shortages or surpluses of goods to the Director of Dietary to prevent food waste and to meet consumer demands.
• Executes and maintains a clean workspace to ensure a food safe environment.
• Coordinates and assists other kitchen staff with meal preparation to ensure a productive and structured team.

Cook Qualifications

• Education/Licensure/Certifications:

• Environmental Surroundings:

Regular exposure to moderate physical discomfort from fumes or odors, extreme temperatures, loud noises, and bright lights.
