Job description

Program Name: Woonsocket Head Start Child Development Association

Program Address: 204 Warwick Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895

Position Description
  • Preparation of meals and snacks for preschool children in accordance with established guidelines for safe food handling, preparation, holding and storage
  • Ability to follow the approved menu, ensuring compliance with the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines and regulations
  • Maintenance of thorough and accurate production records
  • Kitchen cleaning, sanitation and maintenance, including dishes
  • Ability to communicate professionally and efficiently with kitchen aide, vendors, supervisors, and coworkers
  • Observance of food allergies and restrictions
  • Kitchen ordering and inventory using FIFO method
  • Consultation with education staff to facilitate classroom cooking activities
  • Preparation of food for special center activities
  • Fill in as Cook in other centers, if necessary
  • Perform other related duties, as necessary
  • Supervision of children is everyone’s job responsibility
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • ServSafe Manager Certification
  • Desirable: Experience in batch cooking, familiarity with the Child and Adult Care Food Program, allergy safety training
