Job summary

Notting Hill of West Bloomfield is hiring a Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents according to menus and dietary restrictions. You will work on-site with the dietary staff to ensure sanitation, food safety, and timely service.

The role requires a High School diploma (preferred) and about one year of institutional cooking experience. ServSafe certification is preferred and benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401K, and life insurance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting preferred.
• Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and infection control practices.

Responsibilities

• Supervises culinary center staff in the absence of the Chef or CDM.
• Handles and stores all food per facility procedures and safety guidelines.
• Follow standardized recipes as directed.
• Prepare foods according to menu cycles developed by Registered Dietitians.
• Cook or prepare meals that are nutritious, properly heated, and served on time.
• Use food supplies and equipment efficiently to prevent waste.
• Prepare and maintain food alternates for resident choices and refusals.
• Supervise culinary staff on food storage, preparation, tray assembly, and cleaning.

Description

The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality, nutritious meals for residents in accordance with prescribed menus, dietary restrictions, and sanitation standards. This role ensures a positive dining experience for residents by following safe food-handling practices, maintaining a clean work environment, and collaborating closely with dietary staff to support resident health, satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

• In the absence of the Chef and/or Certified Dietary Manager, supervises the culinary center’s employees.
• Handles and stores all food according to facility procedures,safe food handling guidelines,stateand federal requirements.
• Follow standardized recipes.
• Prepare foods that correspond to themenu cyclesdeveloped by Registered Dietitians.
• Cooks or prepares palatable,attractiveand nutritionally adequate meals in quantities that are served at the proper temperatures and within theappropriate timeframes.
• Usesfood supplies and equipment in an efficient and economic manner to prevent waste.
• Prepares andmaintainsa supply of food alternates to accommodate resident choices and refusals of food served.
• Supervises culinarystaffregardingfood storage, food preparation, tray assembly, and cleaning.

Education and/or Experience:
