Job summary

Elior North America, in partnership with Summit, is seeking an experienced cook to join our Waterloo, IA correctional facility kitchen team. You will work in a fast-paced, structured environment preparing meals for inmates, with emphasis on consistency, safety and quality.

The role calls for at least one year of high-volume, scratch cooking experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask. A background check is required to ensure compliance with facility procedures.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of culinary experience in a high-volume, scratch-focused setting.
• Working knowledge of culinary methods, techniques and standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment and identify food items.
• Customer service experience is required.
• Nice-to-have: Food handlers’ certification.

We are looking to add an experienced cook to work with a highly motivated and energetic kitchen staff in our Waterloo, IA location for our correctional facility kitchen division. Applicants will be required to pass a background check in accordance with any background check procedures required by the correctional facility and applicable law.

This is not your typical restaurant job. Our kitchens are structured, consistent, and community-focused. You’ll help prepare meals that keep operations in the jail running smoothly and safely.

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

• Ability to use various kitchen equipment and tools as well as identify and differentiate food items.
• Customer service experience is required.
