An internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Cook at the Waco Corps, located in Waco, TX.

Job Summary

Cook and serve nutritional meals and snacks according to established guidelines and schedules. Ensure all meals are prepared and served safely and attractively. Clean kitchen facilities, equipment, and appliances. Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and food in a neat and organized manner.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of proper cooking methods and procedures.
• Knowledge of effective cleaning and sanitizing practices, including safety precautions.
• Knowledge of acceptable food storage and cleaning techniques.
• Ability to cook nutritious, tasteful, and safe food for large groups in a timely manner.
• Ability to properly clean kitchen appliances and utensils.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• One year of experience cooking for large groups, or
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications

• Valid State Driver's License
• Food Handler’s Certificate (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Effective reading, writing, and communication in English.
• Ability to cook, taste, and smell food.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
• Duties involve standing, with occasional sitting, squatting, climbing, bending, and walking.
• Frequent physical effort including walking, standing, lifting, and carrying objects up to 75 lbs.
• Work is performed in a kitchen environment with temperature variations and physical discomforts related to cooking.
