Job summary

Lifespace Communities in Austin, TX seeks a prep cook to join the on-site kitchen team. You will manage production, bake goods, decorate items, and ensure meals align with menus and service hours.

Emphasis on safe food handling and maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen supporting a resident-focused dining program. One year of prep cook experience and a high school diploma are required, with state certification in safe handling if applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience as a prep cook or similar position.
• State Certified in Safe Food Handling and Sanitation if state certification program exists.

Responsibilities

• Manage production and prepare a wide variety of standard and custom baked goods according to recipes.
• Mix, bake, build, decorate, and inscribe products in an efficient manner (as applicable).
• Prepare all food items per menu requirements following designated recipes.
• Prepare plates and garnish food items to be served to residents and guests.
• Prepare food production to coordinate with meal service hours so that quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved.
• Ensure food safety by monitoring food temperatures and use proper food storage techniques in accordance with state and local standards.
• Maintain work area in a safe and sanitary condition may include cleaning cooking equipment, and other areas of the kitchen as assigned.
