Job summary

Orchard-Rehabilitation-and-Nursing-Cente is seeking a dietary associate to support hospital-style meal preparation and menu planning at one location in New York. Responsibilities include following recipes, preparing meals to meet dietary needs, and coordinating with other departments to ensure on-time service.

The role requires 1 year of dietary experience in a medical facility and a High School diploma or GED. Excellent safety practices and physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds are essential.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1 year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or related medical facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review menu prior to preparation of food.
• Assist in planning regular and special diet menus according to sanitary regulations.
• Prepare meals palatable and appetizing; follow recipes and special diets.
• Serve food with established portion control; coordinate dietary services with other departments.
• Maintain storage, inventory, and cleanliness of kitchen and food areas.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and comply with safety policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

May include all or part of the following but not limited to:

• Review menu prior to preparation of food.
• Assist in planning regular and special diet menus in accordance with sanitary regulations
• Assist in establishing food service production to assure that meals are prepared on time
• Prepare meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
• Prepare food in accordance with recipes and special diets
• Prepare substitute foods
• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
• Coordinate dietary services with other departments as necessary
• Assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food, supplies, etc. as necessary
• Ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available
• Make sure that all food items are properly stored, covered and dated in all refrigerators in the kitchen, remove out dated food items in accordance to the policies & procedures of the department.
• Ensure that the kitchen is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that necessary equipment are maintained
• Assist maintain food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times
• Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to the FSD or designee.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
