Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties such as preparing and cooking a variety of simple menu items that require little or no processing. Setting up, preparing, and serving a variety of hot and cold food cafeteria style. Operating and cleaning basic kitchen equipment. Following sanitary procedures to keep work areas clean and safety procedures in food handling. Preparing food in a variety of ways while weighing, measuring, and assembling ingredients for regular menu items. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds or more. Work involves virtually constant standing and walking, reaching and stooping, pushing and pulling, and bending.
The kitchen is hot and noisy at times, and there is exposure to temperature extremes when entering walk-in refrigerator from the kitchen. There is exposure to steam, fumes, and cooking odors, and danger of falling on floors which has been freshly mopped or where food has been spilled. There is danger of bums from steam or hot foods, cuts from knives or machines. Work involves exposure to noise levels above 85db(A), requiring the use of hearing protective equipment. Working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of this job. Employees are required to wear any personal protective equipment as applicable to their duties.
