Position Summary

DeliCooks are experienced kitchen hands looking to brush up on their talents or switch up their scenery from the late-night restaurant grind. Deli Cooks focus on cooking large quantities of food on the stovetop and in the oven. Joining River Market as a Deli Cook offers a space to sharpen your skills and indulge in your passion for cooking.

This role supports daily department operations by providing excellent customer service, maintaining product quality and presentation, and assisting with inventory and merchandising activities. Cooks work closely with team members to create a positive shopping experience while helping the department meet operational goals.

Cooks report to the Deli Manager. This is a union position.

Location: River Market: 221 Main Street North, Stillwater, MN 55082

Schedule: Position 1: Thursday & Friday: 6am - 2pm (16 hours per week). Flexible availability is preferred.

Schedule: Position 2: Thursday - Sunday: 11:15am - 6:15pm (28 hours per week). Flexible availability is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18 years old to operate the slicer machine
• Acquires food handler certification within 30 days of hire
• Food service experience (2 years preferred) i.e.: deli, catering, restaurant
• Performs basic arithmetic including counting, addition and subtraction
• Computer literacy including but not limited to: MS Office-Outlook, Excel, Word
• Experience serving customers

Physical And Working Requirements

Must be physically able to occasionally grasp, grip, pull, push, twist, and turn as needed.

Constant (67-100%): Walking, standing, talking, hearing, correctible vision including near acuity and depth perception

Frequent (34-66%): Bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds floor to waist, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds floor to waist

Occasional (1-33%): Working in refrigeration, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance floor to waist, lifting/reaching waist to shoulder, lifting/reaching above the shoulder

Approximately 5% of the time: Administrative duties & sitting

Salary: $18.80 - $20.11 per hour
