Job summary

The Landing - Roseburg, OR is seeking a Cook to join our senior living team. You will prepare meals, ensure nutritional standards, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment in line with health regulations.

We value teamwork, willingness to learn, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while communicating clearly with residents and staff. A food handler permit or ability to obtain one is required, and background checks will be completed. Full-time or part-time shifts available.

Qualifications

  • Formally trained in the culinary arts or have equivalent experience as a cook.
  • Willingness to learn and work within a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Food handler permit or ability to obtain one as required by state regulations.
  • Good verbal communication and ability to read, write, and speak English with residents and coworkers who only speak English.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals under guidance of the Dining Services Director.
  • Ensure meals are nutritious, appetizing, and attractively presented.
  • Assist in orienting new team members and scheduling.
  • Greet elders, families, visitors, and colleagues to create a friendly environment.
  • Maintain equipment and keep work areas clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Adhere to infection control and foodborne illness prevention procedures.

What You’ll do

The Cook is responsible for meal preparation, delivery, and cleanliness under appropriate health department regulations. This position assists in maintaining a positive physical and social environment for the elders.

As a Cook, you can expect a range of responsibilities and tasks. Here are some general expectations:

  • You will prep and prepare meals under the guidance of the Dining Services Director.
  • You will ensure meals are prepared in a nutritional, appetizing fashion and presented attractively.
  • You will help the Dining Services Director orient new team members and schedule.
  • You will greet elders, families, visitors, and team members, creating a friendly, positive environment.
  • You will ensure equipment is maintained and work areas are clean, safe, and orderly.
  • You will adhere to procedures regarding infection control and foodborne illness prevention.
