Okeechobee Healthcare Facility is seeking an experienced Cook to join the Dietary Services Department. You will prepare nutritious meals meeting therapeutic diet requirements while upholding food safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes, physician-prescribed therapeutic diets, and production schedules.
  • Ensure meals are prepared in accordance with state and federal regulations for long-term care facilities.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards.
  • Properly portion and present food for resident meal service.
  • Monitor food temperatures during preparation, holding, and service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas.
  • Assist with inventory management, food storage, and stock rotation using FIFO principles.
  • Receive and properly store food deliveries.
  • Work collaboratively with Dietary Aides and other team members to ensure timely meal service.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist with special meals, holiday events, and resident-centered dining activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Dietary Supervisor.

  • Ability to prepare meals for large groups while maintaining quality and consistency.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
