- Prepares and portions various food items with the highest quality.
- Wraps, labels and dates prepared food items for storage.
- Receives, stores and rotates supplies as delivered.
- Prepares meals in accordance with planned menus.
- Checks food storage areas daily to ensure proper rotation.
- Uses and cleans cooking and food preparation equipment.
- Orients, motivates, supervises and evaluates production and kitchen employees to assure efficient and effective department standards.
- Performs general and assigned sanitation duties in kitchen and dining areas in conformance with sanitary, health and safety regulations.
- Maintains communication with other departments to assure food service meets residents’ needs.
- Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent resident information.
- Reports exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious material and hazardous chemicals to the Director of Food & Nutrition Services.
- Prepares food in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies.
- Demonstrates a courteous and responsible attitude toward staff, residents and visitors.
- Works effectively with other staff members to produce a cohesive supportive work environment.
- Works with little supervision.
- Reads, writes and speaks English effectively, communicating written and verbally.
- Performs all responsibilities in accordance with safety and infection control policies.
- Conducts responsibilities in a manner that exhibits the BHCS mission, vision, and core values.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Previous experience with food preparation in a long‑term care setting preferred.
- Serve Safe and allergen training required.
