Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) in Monroe, NC is hiring a Cook to prepare nutritious, family-style meals for Head Start and Early Head Start programs.

The role offers a consistent weekday schedule with a starting rate of $13.16 per hour and a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, 6:30am-2:30pm. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six months to one year of related food service experience preferred.
• Serve Safe Certification required within six months of employment.
• Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and submit to random drug screenings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards.
• Assist with food inventory and supply organization.
• Follow CACFP and program nutrition guidelines.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely.
• Support a positive dining experience for children.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand for extended periods, operate kitchen equipment safely, lift food and kitchen supplies up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
