Job summary

Carillon Senior Living in Lubbock, TX is hiring a Cook to join our vibrant senior living community. The role focuses on preparing all daily meals to standardized recipes while maintaining safety, cleanliness, and high quality.

You will support service, assist with ware washing, and engage with residents in a warm, welcoming manner. The position offers an hourly pay of $15-$16 and requires a high school diploma with preference for culinary training and at least one year of related cooking

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Culinary degree preferred.
• Minimum of one year restaurant/senior living cooking experience.
• Able to stand for up to eight hours daily; lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to use standard industrial kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all food items per standardized recipes.
• Ensure cleanliness, sanitation and food safety at all times.
• Assist with serving and ware washing as needed.
• Monitor food quality, temperature, appearance and portions.
• Interact warmly with residents and teammates to support service and occupancy.
• Follow policies to support nutrition criteria and dietary guidelines.

Who You Are

• High school diploma
• Culinary degree preferred

• Able to stand or walk for up to eight (8) hours per day, bend, stoop, and stretch frequently throughout the day
• Have manual dexterity for preparing food
• Ability to use standard industrial kitchen appliances required
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently
• May be exposed to extreme temperatures (freezers and stoves-range burners) for short periods of time
• May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals
• Able to see, hear, and communicate with others

Summary

The Cook is responsible for the preparation of all food items as per standardized recipes.

Job Expectations

• Responsible for adhering to food safety, quality, appearance and presentation standards at all times
• Produce and serve menu cycle programs that are compliant with required Nutritional/Dietary criteria as required by local regulations and correctly prepare diets provided per Policy and Procedure
• Exhibit cooking standards of speed, accuracy, and efficiency
• Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of cooking preparation and production
• Assist with serving of meals and ware washing as necessary
• Visit residents periodically to evaluate food service such as quality, quantity, temperature, and appearance; and conduct evaluations to make revisions in operations / procedures to promote improved food service
• Represent the community in a warm and inviting manner, which creates a positive marketing environment
• Supports creating a culture where the business decisions made in this position, along with individual employee engagement, drive top-line revenue and occupancy
• Able to stand or walk for up to eight (8) hours per day, bend, stoop, and stretch frequently throughout the day
