Job summary

Woodland Heights Senior Living in Little Rock, AR is seeking a Cook to join our team. The cook reports to the Dining Service Director and helps prepare meals safely and in line with dietary standards and community policies.

Responsibilities include following daily menus, maintaining cleanliness, managing inventory, and assisting in supervising servers when needed. Applicants should have strong English skills and a ServSafe background is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of health and safety in food preparation and service.
  • Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures per state guidelines.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Experience with seniors' dietary needs preferred but not required.

  • Prepares food items on the dining service director's daily menu for residents within scheduled time frame.
  • Keeps food service areas clean.
  • Monitors inventory.
  • Assists in supervising servers in the absence of the Dining Service Director or Dining Manager.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
  • Ensures resident diets are followed.
  • Communicates issues to the Dining Service Director.
  • Works with little to no supervision.
  • Cooks large quantities and delivers a superior product.

The cook reports to the Dining Service Director and assists in the preparing meals in a safe and appetizing manner in compliance with dietary standards and community policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares food items on the Dining Service Director's daily menu for residents within scheduled time frame.
  • Keeps food service areas clean.
  • Monitors inventory.
  • Assists in the supervision of servers in the absence of the Dining Service Director or Dining Manager.
  • Maintains clean, neat, and safe work environment.
  • Assures resident diets are being followed.
  • Observes and communicates to the Dining Service Director any problems or potential issues in the dietary department.
  • Has the ability to work with little to no supervision.
  • Has the ability to cook large quantities of food and deliver a superior product.
  • Has the ability to maintain professionalism under stress.
  • Respects resident rights and adheres to community policy on resident care.
  • Has excellent attendance.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by Dining Service Director.
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification
  • ServSafe certification preferred but not required.
  • Has a working knowledge of rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation.
  • Knowledge of cooking times and temperatures in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability in a wide range of food preparation and skills.
  • Experience working with seniors and their dietary needs preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically able to bend and reach.
  • Physically able to push and pull and lift up to 40-50 pounds if necessary.
  • Physically able to stand for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to work in hot/humid environments for extended periods of time.
