Job summary

The Ahern Hotel & Convention Center in Las Vegas is seeking a Cook to join our team. You will be responsible for maintenance, set up, food production, and quality control of all items prepared in the kitchen, with a focus on breakfast, lunch, and brunch service.

Ideal candidates have a minimum of 3 years as a line cook, strong breakfast experience, and solid knowledge of fine dining, sanitation, and kitchen equipment. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Las Vegas.

The Ahern Hotel & Convention Center in Las Vegas is seeking a Cook to join our team!SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIESThe Cook is responsible for maintenance, set up, food production and quality control of all food items prepared in the kitchen. You will be primarily assisting with breakfast, lunch and brunch service.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPrepares all foods in accordance to standard recipes.Oversees food preparation and kitchen staff to ensure quality production.Visually inspects, selects and uses only food items of the highest quality in the preparation of all menu items.Checks and controls the proper storage of product and portion control.Keeps all refrigeration, storage, and working areas in clean, working condition to comply with health department regulations.Ensures all equipment in working areas is clean and in proper working condition.Maintain overall cleanliness of kitchen.Maintain food storage and handling procedures.Maintain food quality and nutritional standards.Perform technical culinary food production, portion control, and service standards.Conversational English vocabulary.Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carryout detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.Strong team-minded approach to fellow-workers.Primary food quality work ethic.REQUIRED EXPERIENCEMinimum three (3) years of experience as a line cook.Previous line cook with strong breakfast experience (Required)Excellent working knowledge of the fundamentals of fine dining cooking.Excellent working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation.Well-rounded food background with extensive knowledge of all kitchen equipment.Ability to multi-task with attention to detail.High School Diploma or equivalent.PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.WORKING CONDITIONSFor Full - Time employees, expect to work an 8-hour shift on average, possibly weekends and holidays.Comply with the brand and hygiene policies.
