Job summary

Rosewalk Village Lafayette is hiring a Cook for full-time day shifts. You will join ASC's culinary team to prepare and serve meals meeting residents’ nutritional needs, while upholding sanitation and safety standards.

The role includes leading kitchen staff, maintaining hygiene, and handling inventory and equipment in a resident-focused setting. Prior healthcare cooking experience is valued.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 years related experience.
  • Preferred: Sanitation/Safe Food Handling certification.
  • Preferred: Prior institutional/healthcare service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Follows recipes and prepares food meeting residents’ nutritional needs.
  • Cooks or prepares palatable, nutritious meals in required quantities.
  • Leads kitchen staff with food preparation, assembling trays, cleaning, and storage of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains a clean food service work area during preparation and service.
  • Handles, stores, and disposes of food supplies per procedures and regulations.

Full-Time Day Shifts Available

Join our culinary team at ASC and play a crucial role in preparing and serving delicious and nutritious meals, while maintaining the highest standards of sanitation and food safety for our residents.

Key Responsibilities of a Cook include:

  • Follows recipes and prepares food that corresponds to menus that meet residents’ nutritional needs.
  • Cooks or prepares palatable, attractive, nutritionally adequate meals in quantities needed.
  • Leads kitchen staff with food preparation, assembling trays, cleaning, and storage of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains a clean food service work area as food preparation and service is in process.
  • Handles, stores, and disposes of food supplies, and prepares food in accordance with departmental procedures and in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Required: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred: Certification in Sanitation/Safe Food Handling, unless required by State and Federal agencies. Certifications can be earned while employed with ASC.
  • Preferred: Prior Institutional and/or Healthcare service experience.
