Job summary

Westmont Living, Inc. in La Mesa, CA, seeks a compassionate Cook to join our senior living culinary team. You will prepare meals that are appealing, adhere to dietary requirements, and ensure timely service in a homelike community.

Qualifications

• Experience in preparing meals for senior living residents.
• Ability to follow dietary restrictions and policies.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation and proper handling of foods.

• Prepare meals that are appealing and nutritious.
• Prepare meals for special diets per policy.
• Ensure meals are served on time.
• Identify menu errors and bring changes to Culinary Director’s attention.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation according to schedule.

What we need from you:

• Must have criminal record clearance prior to initial presence in the community

• Must pass all health screen such as Physical, TB, Drug test

• Must have current basic first aid or obtain within first 30 days of hire.

• Attractively prepare meals that are appealing and tasty

• Prepare special limited diets per policy

• Prepare meals in a timely manner to ensure they are served on time

• Identify menu errors and makes appropriate corrections as needed, bring the necessary changes to the Culinary Director’s/Culinary Coordinator’s attention

• Ensure all menu changes are reviewed with the Culinary Director/Culinary Coordinator before changes are made; post menu change notice as required by regulations and policies and procedures

• Keep kitchen clean, sanitary and orderly following cleaning schedule, including shelves and cooking surfaces
