Job summary

Westmont Living, Inc. is seeking a compassionate Cook for our Westmont of La Mesa community in La Mesa, California. You will prepare meals for residents across independent, assisted living and memory care settings.

Responsibilities include appealing meal preparation, adherence to dietary policies, timely service, and keeping a clean, sanitary kitchen. Health screens, TB test, drug screening and background checks are required before hire.

Qualifications

• Must pass health screen and TB test.
• Criminal background clearance prior to initial presence in the community.
• Must have current basic first aid or obtain within first 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Attractively prepare meals that are appealing and tasty
• Prepare special limited diets per policy
• Prepare meals in a timely manner to ensure they are served on time
• Identify menu errors and makes appropriate corrections as needed, bring the necessary changes to the Culinary Director’s/Culinary Coordinator’s attention
• Ensure all menu changes are reviewed with the Culinary Director/Culinary Coordinator before changes are made; post menu change notice as required by regulations and policies and procedures
• Keep kitchen clean, sanitary and orderly following cleaning schedule, including shelves and cooking surfaces

What we need from you:
