Description

Summary: Responsible for enhancing and improving the SRIM Management experience specifically in Artful Dining for residents, families, and visitors. Demonstrates and promotes SRMMG’s core value of the Golden Rule: treating others as you would like to be treated. Prepares and cooks a variety of food for residents, families, and visitors. Oversees the work of other food service staff involved in cooking, performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Prepares all food according to the established menu.
  2. Ensures proper preparation, portioning, and serving of food following standardized recipes.
  3. Assumes responsibility for total kitchen operations and handles all situations in the kitchen according to established policies and procedures.
  4. Follows departmental procedures including sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules.
  5. Cleans all food service equipment, kitchen, and food storage areas daily.
  6. Prepares suggestions for menu or recipe changes that adhere to dietician guidelines to utilize surplus foods and supplies.
  7. Oversees proper food handling and utilization to prevent contamination, increase quality, and reduce costs.
  8. Supports a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, visitors, and staff.
  9. Responds promptly and courteously to resident and family requests for assistance.
  10. Communicates effectively in a language understandable to each resident.
  11. Maintains a safe environment free of hazards that could cause harm or falls.
  12. Practices good body mechanics and safe work habits.
  13. Reports safety hazards immediately to supervisors.
  14. Follows policies in emergency situations.
  15. Works collaboratively with team members and management.
  16. Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude towards work, residents, families, visitors, staff, and management.
  17. Adheres to attendance and call-off policies.
  18. Attends trainings, in-services, and mandatory meetings.
  19. Wears clean and appropriate attire per dress code policy.
  20. Refers all resident care inquiries from families and visitors to the supervisor.
  21. Complies with HIPAA regulations.
  22. May assist in training new dining staff.
  23. Shows initiative, seeks additional information, and offers solutions.
  24. Handles special projects or assignments outside regular duties.
  25. Coordinates culinary assistants’ work.
  26. Performs other duties as assigned.

Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed or uninvolved instructions.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED, or 1-2 years related experience/training, or equivalent.

Physical Demands: Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, hear; frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, taste, smell; occasionally sit, climb, balance; lift/move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment: Occasionally exposed to bloodborne pathogens; reasonable accommodations available.
