Job description

About the Position: The position is located at the dinning facility in Martin Army Community Hospital within Nutrition Care Division at, Fort Benning, GA. The position is a fast-paced and customer-focused environment dedicated to providing quality food service. The work environment is dynamic, requiring attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in a high-traffic area.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties such as preparing and cooking a variety of simple menu items that require little or no processing. Setting up, preparing, and serving a variety of hot and cold food cafeteria style. Operating and cleaning basic kitchen equipment. Following sanitary procedures to keep work areas clean and safety procedures in food handling. Preparing food in a variety of ways while weighing, measuring, and assembling ingredients for regular menu items. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds or more. Work involves virtually constant standing and walking, reaching and stooping, pushing and pulling, and bending.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The kitchen is hot and noisy at times, and there is exposure to temperature extremes when entering walk-in refrigerator from the kitchen. There is exposure to steam, fumes, and cooking odors, and danger of falling on floors which has been freshly mopped or where food has been spilled. There is danger of bums from steam or hot foods, cuts from knives or machines. Work involves exposure to noise levels above 85db(A), requiring the use of hearing protective equipment. Working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of this job. Employees are required to wear any personal protective equipment as applicable to their duties.
