Job summary

The Village at Penn State is hiring a Part-Time Cook to join our culinary team in State College, PA. This role offers 20 hours per week with 4:00pm - 8:00pm shifts and opportunities to serve older adults in a premier independent living community.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and any cooking or food service experience. You will read recipes, follow instructions, and maintain safe food handling practices while delivering quality meals.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read recipes and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen equipment.
  • Read menus and production sheets to prepare meals.
  • Ability to prepare meals according to dietary requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals for residents, guests, and staff following menus and recipes.
  • Prepare meals in accordance with modified diets and dietary guidelines.
  • Serve meals with proper portions and presentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation.
  • Label, store, and rotate food and supplies properly.
  • Assist with additional kitchen and utility duties as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and work with the culinary team.

The Village at Penn State, one of the area's premier independent living communities, is seeking a Part-Time Cook to join our culinary team. If you enjoy preparing quality meals, working in a collaborative kitchen, and serving older adults, we'd love to hear from you.

Schedule
  • Part-Time
  • 20 hours per week
  • Available shifts:
    • 4:00pm - 8:00pm
What You'll Do
  • Prepare meals for residents, guests, and staff following menus, recipes, and production sheets.
  • Prepare meals in accordance with modified diets and dietary guidelines.
  • Serve meals while maintaining proper portion sizes and presentation standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation.
  • Properly label, store, and rotate food and supplies.
  • Assist with additional kitchen and utility duties as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and work collaboratively with the culinary team.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous cooking or food service experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read recipes and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation, safe food handling, and kitchen equipment.
