Job summary

Dial is seeking a Cook in Clive, IA to independently prepare meals and support quality and safety standards in a senior living kitchen. The role requires 2+ years of cooking experience in care or food service, with a focus on sanitation and resident dietary guidelines.

Expect to collaborate with the culinary team on menu planning, maintain clean facilities, handle food storage, and adapt recipes for special dining needs while ensuring consistent portioning and presentation.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• 2+ years of cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and dietary guidelines.
• Promote teamwork in providing services to residents.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals for residents with attention to quality and presentation.
• Alter or adapt recipes to accommodate special dining needs of residents or to improve recipes.
• Ensure attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.
• Identify food and supplies needed for the next week's menus and report to the supervisor.
• Participate in new menu and special menu planning.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and kitchen/storage areas.
• Ensure proper handling, labeling and storage of food for infection control.
• Prepare meats for storage and portion control upon delivery. Ensure proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients.
• Assist with dishwashing and kitchen sanitation, as needed.
• Notify manager of food supply needs and malfunctioning equipment or appliances.
• Assist in the recording of Ready - to - Use - food items into the TELS website. Three items should be recorded for every meal.
• Record cooler, freezer and dish machine temperatures in the TELS website.
• Report any on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs.
• Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, community operations and personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• ServeSafe or equivalent certification is preferred
