Job summary

Trinity Services Group is seeking a Cook to work on-site in a jail/correctional facility in Massachusetts. You will prepare hot and cold items, follow recipes, and supervise inmate labor to produce meals efficiently while adhering to safety guidelines.

You will report to a Food Service Director, must have at least 1 year of cooking experience, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. DailyPay and a $250 Rookie's Fast Track bonus are offered, along with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, and you are at least 18 years of age.
• At least 1 year of relevant cooking experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Prior experience cooking or kitchen work in a cafeteria or large-volume production facility.
• Experience with safety procedures typical in a cafeteria or food service environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage inmate labor and kitchen team during food prep and service shifts.
• Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates.
• Cook food according to recipes and portion meals to meet nutritional needs.
• Refer to Daily Prep List and complete opening/closing checklists daily.
• Set up workstation with ingredients and equipment and ensure readiness for service.
• Operate ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers as needed.
• Handle, label, and rotate products following state laws.

About This Position

The Cook prepares a variety of food items following assigned work instructions, menus and guidelines while following food safety and food handling procedures. The Cook also shows experience preparing hot and cold food items and all standardized knife cuts. You will resolve issues that potentially arise. You will follow recipes, while managing their assigned station with team members to produce dishes promptly.

You will report to a Food Service Director. This position is located onsite inside of a jail/correctional facility.

Essential Functions/Main Responsibilities

• Manage/oversee inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts in the kitchen.
• Promote a healthy and safe work environment for other employees/inmates.
• Use kitchen utensils/equipment to cook food according to recipes. Use proper utensils to serve menued portions to meet clients' nutritional needs.
• Refers to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned tasks and completes opening and closing checklists daily.
• Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Must be comfortable using and operating a variety of equipment including ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers.
• Handle, stores, labels, and rotates all products following applicable state laws.
• You will have physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods of time.
• Be able to stand and be on your feet for much of the scheduled shift.
• Other responsibilities as determined by our needs.

What You'll Need

• We require a high school diploma or GED, and that you are at least 18 years of age.
• At least one (1) year of relevant cooking experience required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Prior experience cooking or kitchen experience in a cafeteria or large volume production facility.
• Experience with safety procedures as typical in a cafeteria or food service environment.
