Responsibilities include preparing meals, following menus, serving meals under sanitary conditions, maintaining inventory, and keeping kitchen areas clean and safe. The role requires CPR certification and flexibility.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to interact with residents, staff, and managers with respect and dignity.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with clients in crisis situations.
  • Crime-free background check and valid driver’s license.
  • Experience in volume food cookery in an institutional kitchen or commercial food establishment preferred.
  • Experience operating a cash register and serving line preferred.
  • Good spelling, basic math skills, and proficiency with standard office equipment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work well in teams and represent the agency positively.

Responsibilities

Job description

Job Title: Cook - SRTF

Location: STAR (Specialized Treatment and Resiliency Center) - Boardman

FLSA: 0.9 FTE (36 hrs/wk) Monday–Thursday; 0.68 FTE (27.2 hrs/wk) Friday–Sunday

Supervisor: Facility Assistant Administrator

Pay Grade: B5 ($19.42–$27.74 per hour, depending on experience)

Responsibilities
  • Prepare meals and assist with the feeding of residents according to menus and dining plans.
  • Give direction regarding food preparation methods.
  • Serve food under sanitary conditions as prescribed by the State Health Department.
  • Follow and use recipes as outlines.
  • Check incoming merchandise against packing lists.
  • Stay awake and alert throughout the shift.
  • Receive trainings prior to practice; pass and maintain CPR certification.
  • Participate in inventory, ordering, and/or purchasing of supplies, including food, as assigned.
  • Maintain clean, sanitary, and safe conditions (e.g., sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, window washing, oven cleaning).
  • Report all safety hazards.
  • Provide timely and accurate documentation per Joint Commission standards, OARs, and STAR/CCS policies and procedures.
  • Report any suspected violations or client rights abuses according to mandatory reporting policies.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
  • Follow the policies and procedures of STAR and Community Counseling Solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to interact with residents, staff, and managers with respect and dignity.

  • Crime‑free background check and valid driver’s license.
  • Experience in volume food cookery in an institutional kitchen or commercial food establishment preferred.
  • Experience operating a cash register and serving line preferred.

  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work well in teams and represent the agency positively.
  • Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift, and transfer clients, including two‑person lifting techniques.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, evenings, or overnight shifts.
  • Knowledge of client confidentiality rules and laws.
  • Pass all criminal history check requirements per ORS 181.536‑181.537 and OAR 410‑007‑0200 through 410‑007‑0380.
  • Monthly compliance checks against exclusion lists for ongoing employment.
Physical Demands

Requires regular availability and coping with mental, emotional, and physical demands. May involve lifting and transferring clients, working overtime, weekends, evenings, or overnight shifts.

Work Environment

Work occurs in an office/home environment and in the community, with moderate to occasional loud noises. Travel, including overnight stays for meetings and training, may be required. Environments with uneven terrain or crisis situations may be encountered.
