US Military Treatment Facilities under DHA seeks a cook to operate in a kitchen setting with daily hours from 0500 to 2230, seven days per week. The position is part of a Direct Hire Authority recruitment process to fill a DoD DoN competitive service role.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work with minimal supervision in a challenging kitchen environment. Physical stamina and adherence to hygiene standards are required.
Work is performed in kitchen area, operating hours are between 0500-2230, 7 days per week.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Ability to do the work of a Cook without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common food preparation duties. I can perform simplified tasks for the preparation and cooking/reheating of fresh, frozen, and canned fruits and vegetables, cereals, eggs, soups, meat and meat products, gravies, sauces, fish, poultry, and potatoes or starch substitutes. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
