Position Summary:

The Cook performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department, including preparing meals correctly and timely, supervising employee staff, and being accountable to the Dietary Manager. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Cook oversees and supports the staff.

Duties:

1. Prepare and portion hot and cold menu items according to proper menu and recipe as noted on the production sheet counts.
2. Serve Resident meals according to the correct meal service times.
3. Provide coverage for staff members who call out due to illness.
4. Ensure all food and equipment temperatures are recorded by meal.
5. Interact daily with residents and facility employees to ensure satisfaction and proper service.
6. Maintain high sanitation standards as required by state Department of Health regulations.
7. Practice a clean, safe work environment.
8. Work flexible hours as needed.
9. Track inventory and communicate low supplies or place orders for needed items.
10. Label, wrap, and date all unused food items correctly.
11. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
12. Support and follow Pollak Innovation Management and facility policies and procedures.

In the absence of the Dietary Manager, additional responsibilities include:

1. Ensuring staff clock in on time as per schedule.
2. Disciplining staff not completing their duties correctly.
3. Conducting daily huddle meetings for staff communication and direction.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or Culinary Tech Graduate.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow recipes, production sheets, diet orders, tray tickets, and employee responsibilities.
• Willingness to learn computer software for resident information and preferences.
• Serve Safe Certification or ability to earn within the first 90 days.

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year of Dietary (Healthcare) or Restaurant experience.
