Position Summary

Rolling Plains Management Corporation is seeking a part‑time Cook for the Archer City Child Development Center in Archer City, Texas. The position is hourly, with regular work hours set by the Center Director and occasional schedule changes. The Cook will oversee meal production, preparation, and service for Head Start students, parents, and teachers, ensuring compliance with USDA, State, and local health and nutrition guidelines.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise food service operations and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and sanitation standards.
  • Assemble ingredients, dishes, and supplies for timely meal preparation.
  • Prepare high‑quality meals and snacks, follow standardized recipes, and maintain proper food temperatures.
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils using approved sanitation methods and complete routine maintenance, including weekly deep cleaning.
  • Order and shop for food and non‑food items, manage inventory, and keep accurate grocery tickets.
  • Maintain inventory, use first‑in‑first‑out, and meet special dietary needs of children.
  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks; take headcount, record attendance, and coordinate with staff.
  • Complete required paperwork for USDA, CACFP, and program guidelines, including forms H1535, H1530, H4502, and others, on a weekly or monthly basis.
  • Submit time distribution reports, enrollment lists, and maintain eligibility documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management; attend to any health, safety, or regulatory updates.
  • Ensure no child is left unattended, report suspected abuse in accordance with law, and uphold the program’s standards of conduct.
  • Show up on time, ready to work scheduled hours, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to work light night and weekend shifts, adapt to change, and pass drug/alcohol, criminal background, and TB tests.
  • Valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s permit and reliable transportation for regional travel.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25lb, perform repetitive motions, bend, squat, crouch, reach, sit, and remain in a stressful environment for an 8‑hour day.
  • Capacity to work in a stressful environment, close quarters, and moderate to loud noise settings.

Work Environment
