Job summary

Sourcing HR Solutions is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist for our California aerospace shop. You will set up fixtures, operate manual machines, read blueprints, and ensure parts meet exact specifications.

This role requires 3 to 10 years of hands-on experience, the ability to lift heavy parts, and knowledge of metals such as stainless steel, carbon steel, cast iron, and aluminum. We offer strong benefits including a 401(k) with match and performance bonuses.

Qualifications

• 3 to 10 years of hands-on manual machining experience.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in loud industrial environments.
• Experience with metals (stainless steel, carbon steel, cast iron, aluminum) and their cutting characteristics

Responsibilities

• Set up fixtures and secure workpieces to the machine table.
• Operate manual controls to mill surfaces, bore holes, and ream to spec.
• Read drawings to plan machining steps.
• Measure parts with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators to verify tolerances.
• Apply geometry and trigonometry to calculate speeds, feeds, and reference points.
• Maintain and clean the work area, and follow safety protocols.

Core Responsibilities

• Setup & Fixturing: Determine proper tooling, install fixtures, and secure heavy or oversized workpieces to the machine table, often requiring precise manual alignment.
• Machine Operation: Control manual handwheels, dials, and feed mechanisms to mill surfaces, bore large holes, and ream holes to exact blueprint specifications.
• Blueprint Reading: Translate technical drawings, geometric dimensions, and tolerances into a logical, step-by-step machining process.
• Quality Control: Use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators) to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet strict tolerance levels.
• Shop Math & Calculations: Apply geometry and trigonometry to calculate speeds, feeds, and machining reference points.
• Maintenance & Safety: Perform daily maintenance, lubricate moving parts, keep the work area clean, and adhere to strict safety protocols.
