Job summary

SpaceXAI seeks a Controls Technician to support control systems for data centers and infrastructure. You will work hands-on with BMS, EPMS, SCADA, PLCs to ensure cooling, power distribution, and safety systems operate reliably.

Work with engineers to maintain automated controls, monitor performance, and respond to operational needs in a fast-paced environment. The role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with industrial control systems.
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA or similar programming.
  • Familiarity with Siemens TIA Portal or equivalent PLC programming.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and modifying BMS, EPMS, and SCADA systems per engineer specs.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of critical systems (chillers, pumps, power distribution) using PLCs.
  • Support the preparation and updating of HMI graphics and interfaces for system monitoring.
  • Maintain automated controls for fire safety and emergency shutdown procedures.
  • Help monitor and report on key metrics like PUE and infrastructure performance via dashboards.
  • Coordinate with teams to respond to utility grid events and adjust systems as needed.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

SpaceXAI is seeking a Controls Technician to support the implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems for our data centers and infrastructure. This role involves hands‑on work with BMS, EPMS, SCADA systems, PLCs, and other industrial controls to ensure reliable operation of critical systems like cooling, power distribution, and safety protocols. You will collaborate with engineers to maintain automated controls, monitor performance, and respond to operational needs in a fast‑paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in the implementation and modification of BMS, EPMS, and SCADA systems for data centers, following engineer specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of critical systems (e.g., chillers, pumps, power distribution) using PLCs and industrial control technologies.
  • Support the preparation and updating of HMI graphics and interfaces for system monitoring.
  • Maintain automated controls for fire safety and emergency shutdown procedures (ESOP).
  • Help monitor and report on key metrics like PUE and infrastructure performance via dashboards.
  • Coordinate with teams to respond to utility grid events and adjust systems as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience as a technician working with industrial control systems.
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA or similar programming.
  • Familiarity with Siemens TIA Portal or equivalent PLC programming.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting industrial equipment using IEC 61131‑3 languages (e.g., ladder logic).
  • Experience with hardware from Siemens, SEL, Rockwell, or similar.
  • Basic knowledge of HMI development tools like Ignition.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a methodical approach.
  • Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage tasks independently in a team environment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work extended periods standing, in tight quarters, and exposed to noise.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift or carry 10‑15lbs.
  • Subject to pre‑employment drug testing and random drug/alcohol testing.
