Job summary

Thermo Systems is seeking an entry-level technical support specialist for control system projects and service teams. Travel to client sites for installations, maintenance, or repairs of control systems, with opportunities to learn HMI and PLC applications.

Ideal candidates have 0–3 years of related experience and an AS in Engineering Technology or an equivalent field. Attack tasks under supervision and grow technical skills in a dynamic environment.

• 0–3 years of industry experience typical.

Responsibilities

• Assist in project installation, start-up and commissioning of control systems.
• Perform instrument loop checks and calibrations.
• Maintain and troubleshoot control systems.
• Assist in FAT.
• Wire instruments and control panels.
• Understand HMI and PLC applications at a basic level.
• Develop startup and troubleshooting skills for HMI/PLC.
• Read P&ID and wiring diagrams.

Job Summary:

Provides technical support to control system projects and service teams. Listens, takes direction, and seeks guidance from the assigned project leads, supervisors, and company leadership. Travel to client locations for installations, maintenance, or repairs of control systems.

Education and Experience:

• Associate in Applied Science or Associate in Science in Engineering Technology, Computer Information Systems Technology, relevant curriculum or experience.
• Typically, 0-3 years of industry experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Responsibilities:

• Assist in project installation, start-up and commissioning of control systems.
• Perform instrument loop checks and calibrations.
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of control systems.
• Assist in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
• Wire instruments and control panels.
• Develop basic understanding of Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) applications.
• Develop startup and troubleshooting skills with Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications.
• Develop startup and troubleshooting skills with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) applications.
• Read and interpret piping & instrumentation diagrams and wiring diagrams.
• Practice procedures outlined in the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
• Accurately document work performed.
• Develop basic understanding of control system design.
• Develop basic understanding of electrical and mechanical system design.
• Develop basic understanding of Information Technology (IT) system, network infrastructure, and computer system design, as it relates to control system integration.

• Proficient with multimeter, signal generators, and other hand tools.

• Know how and when to use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Promotes a positive/collaborative team culture.

Travel required:

• 100% overnight travel

On Call:

• On call rotation participation may be required based on location and client needs.

Work Authorization/Other Requirements:

• Proof of eligibility to work in the country where the position is located is required.
• Maintain a valid drivers license.
• Fit for Duty at all times
