Qualifications

  • Massachusetts journeyman electrical license is required.
  • Technical associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years in manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional teamwork ability.
  • Experience with PLCs, drives programming and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees plant-wide machinery reliability and process variability reduction programs.
  • Installs PLCs and programs for new machines or changes to existing ones.
  • Creates and updates PanelView applications for operation of programs.
  • Communicates project status to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Plans maintenance activities with emphasis on reliability across plants.
  • Designs and maintains technical documentation; supports safety initiatives.
  • Participates in scheduling and prioritization of process control work.
  • Travels between plants to obtain parts or support projects as needed.

Controls Technician/Electrician

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under general direction, the Controls Technician/Electrician manages all control field devices that are part of the process control and instrumentation technology in the Plant. This position installs new programmable logic controllers (PLC) and programs for new machines or changes to existing ones. The Controls Technician/Electrician creates and updates PanelView applications for operating these programs, in order to make operations as efficient as possible. This position also communicates the status of all projects and initiatives to their leader.

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees plant wide machineryfocusreliability of instruments, and process variability reduction programs.
  • Works with process engineers and supervisors in the areas to develop and applythe appropriatestrategies.
  • Plans, andassiststechnicians on short- and long-term maintenance activities across the plants with emphasis on reliability and reducing process variability.
  • Prepares,editsand implements standard company and Plant best practices for process control instrumentation maintenance, reliability, and variability reduction.
  • Participates in prioritization andscheduling ofprocess control teamwork.
  • Designs,updateandmaintainappropriate technicaldocumentation.
  • Innovates designs for certain components that will affect the functionality of machines as well as make them safer.
  • Researchesnew technologiesthat can better the plants' efficiency.
  • Attending project meetings to discuss machinesand orupgrades.
  • Keeps projects on track andcomingup with solutions to problems that may arise.
  • Works with other team members to complete tasks/projects ina timelymanner.
  • Communicatesproject or machine issues in a clear and effective manner, along with potential solutions to all necessary personnel.
  • Communicates timelines and meets deadlines efficiently and safely for projects or downed machines.
  • Usesvarious trending techniques within PLCs and documentation to better the efficiency and safety of machinery.
  • Additionalduties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Education & Skillsets:

  • Massachusetts journeyman electrical license
  • Technicalassociatesdegree (preferred) or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • PLCs, Drive's Programming and Troubleshooting
  • Auto-Cad
  • Ability toparticipatein cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to manage change andconflict.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot andproblem solve.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operatingand maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability towrite routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability toadd, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability tooperatedrills, grinders, and other maintenance shop tools.
  • Ability to work within the CMMS to capture work conducted on machines, repairs, asset adds, capitalimprovements.
  • Ability to travel, if necessary, between plants or to obtain parts.
  • ValidDriverslicense with reliable transportation.
