Job summary

AllSearch Staffing Group is seeking a Controls Technician to support data center infrastructure, controls, automation, and electrical systems in a travel-heavy role. You will participate in startup, testing, and commissioning across projects nationwide.

The position requires hands-on PLC/SCADA work, electrical drawing interpretation, and collaboration with engineering teams. This on-site role includes travel up to 75% and a competitive hourly base pay.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in controls, automation, or electrical systems.
• Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, or industrial environments.
• Hands-on experience with PLC programming and/or SCADA systems, including Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk, or similar platforms.
• Experience with electrical systems and power monitoring.
• Experience with networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, network switches, and communication protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and control schematics.
• Ability to travel 50– 75% nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Perform startup, checkout, systems integration, functional testing, and commissioning of EPMS, SCADA, and control systems.
• Configure and support Ignition SCADA platforms for monitoring and control of data center electrical systems.
• Program and troubleshoot PLCs, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms, and associated control hardware.
• Configure and integrate HMIs, industrial PCs (IPCs), power quality meters (PQMs), and managed network switches.
• Configure and troubleshoot industrial networking and communication protocols, including Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP, and IP addressing.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and control diagrams.
• Support electrical power monitoring, controls integration, and automation systems within data center and mission-critical environments.
• Utilize Procore or similar construction management tools to track project progress and documentation.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Project Teams to resolve design and field issues.
• Assist with functional testing, system validation, controls commissioning, and commissioning documentation.

Our client is a well-established mechanical services and engineering organization with over 100 years of success and a rapidly growing presence in the data center and mission-critical construction space. They are seeking multiple Controls Technicians with experience supporting data center infrastructure, controls, automation, and electrical systems. This role supports ground-up data center construction, controls integration, startup, and commissioning projects across the U.S. And involves 50– 75% travel, typically in 1– 2-week assignments.
