Job summary

Trane Technologies in Knoxville, TN seeks a field-based HVAC technician to support customer sites with commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of commercial HVAC systems. You will read wiring diagrams, install sensors, and use diagnostic tools, while maintaining safety standards and documenting work for mentors and supervisors.

The role requires hands-on electrical understanding, the ability to use hand tools and meters, and flexible hours including some overtime.

Qualifications

  • Basic wiring, sensor installation, and introductory software configuration.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong focus on jobsite safety and electrical safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Controls Technicians with commissioning, troubleshooting, and starting HVAC systems.
  • Use software and tools, following blueprints to diagnose and repair units.
  • Maintain safety and accountability of assets; willingness to work overtime as needed.

What You Will Do
  • In this role, you will be assistingControlsTechnicians who are the primary service and maintenance contact for Trane customers in a defined market with a diverse commercial base including Healthcare, Process Manufacturing Facilities, Education Institutions, and Office Complexes.You will assist in thecommissioning, troubleshooting,repairing, and starting upHVAC systemsin a commercial environment.
    • Uses cutting edge software and technology, along with a variety of hand-tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.
    • Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security andaccountabilityof company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.
    • Displays team effort anddedicationto customer by maintainingflexibilityto work overtime and weeks as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays.
Technical Skills
What you will bring:
  • Basic understanding of electrical and electronic circuits (Beginner–Intermediate)
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment (Beginner)
  • Basic wiring, sensor installation, and introductory software configuration (Beginner–Intermediate)
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings (Beginner)
  • Understanding of jobsite and electrical safety practices (Basic)
