Job summary

Palermo's Pizza in Milwaukee, WI, is seeking a Controls Technician (2nd Shift) to join our maintenance team. You will troubleshoot and maintain advanced industrial control systems on our food manufacturing line, ensuring high uptime and safety compliance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of industrial automation experience, strong knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs, PanelView HMIs, and VFDs, and a collaborative, hands-on approach. Overtime and growth opportunities available.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Automation, Industrial Controls, Electro-mechanical, or similar degree.
• Five+ years in industrial manufacturing, with control systems experience.
• Familiarity with NFPA 70, NFPA 79 and UL 508A standards.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on all equipment.
• Design, build and install controls systems per UL 508A: panels, schematics, BOMs, PLC/HMI programming.
• Work with AB PLCs, PanelView HMIs, motors, drives and IO networks to keep lines running.

With pay ranging from $45.00 to $60.00 per hour, a $7,000 sign-on bonus, and a $5.00 shift premium for off-shifts, this role is packed with rewards and growth potential.

What you'll do…

• Support our Operations team through hands-on troubleshooting and performing preventative maintenance on all machinery and equipment.
• Design, fabrication, and installation of controls systems to UL 508A standards including panel building, electrical schematics, equipment BOMs, and PLC/HMI programming.
• Demonstrate strong electrical knowledge and troubleshooting skills with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLCs, PanelView HMIs, Kinetix motion controls, and PowerFlex series variable speed drives or variable frequency drives (VFDs).

What you'll bring…

• Associate degree or higher in Automation, Industrial Controls, Electro-mechanical, or similar related degree (BSEE or BSEET preferred).
• Five-plus years of industrial manufacturing experience in design, fabrication, and installation of industrial control systems including Control- and CompactLogix PLCs, SLC 5/00 and MicroLogix PLCs, PanelView Plus 7 series and PanelView 5000 HMIs, Kinetix servo drives, PowerFlex VFDs, GuardMaster safety relays, IO-Link, and FANUC robotics.
• Ability to navigate, and understanding of, electrical standards such as NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL 508A.
• Experience with common fieldbus, communication protocols, and networking technologies such as EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, IO-Link, AS-i, CIP Safety, and managed ethernet switches.
• Passion for industrial automation with a strong interest in mastering new automation technologies and continuing to grow and develop your skills and knowledge of Industrial Control Systems.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-player mentality ready to work hard and collaborate with Palermo's Controls and Maintenance teams.

When you'll work…

We currently have an opening on 2nd shift, 2:30pm - 10:00pm

Our maintenance team members work every other weekend and enjoy a 5-day workweek by scheduling days off on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. Overtime opportunities are also available for those who want to earn more.
