Job summary

Actalent, a global engineering and sciences services leader, seeks a Controls Technician in Georgetown, KY to review equipment specifications, identify improvements, and install equipment while ensuring safety, quality and productivity.

You will conduct vendor buyoffs, support PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi), train maintenance staff, and travel up to 50% for project needs.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of industrial robot programming and teaching.
  • Experience with AGVs/AMRs programming and setup.
  • Familiarity with safety scanners and programming.
  • Understanding of EthernetIP, FLNet, and ProfiNet networking.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review equipment specifications and design to identify potential improvements.
  • Conduct vendor buyoffs to confirm equipment functions meet safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Install equipment and verify its safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Investigate and determine requirements for equipment modifications and implement them.
  • Lower costs and decrease project time by confirming equipment functionality at the vendor site before installation.
  • Oversee installation by vendors and facilitate the kanban process.
  • Improve equipment quality and productivity by adjustments identified during vehicle trials.
  • Conduct secondary quality checks using torque checks and vacuum profiles.
  • Install, set up, and troubleshoot PLC and Allen-Bradley program controllers.
  • Provide training to maintenance team members on newly implemented equipment.
  • Share subject matter expertise with NAMC maintenance and production members.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time for project needs.

Essential Skills
  • Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills with experience in Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, or Mitsubishi systems (2 years).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PLCs and electrical circuits (2 years).
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 50% of the time.
  • Capability to work up to 30% overtime when required.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and perform tasks involving standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching on varying surfaces.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of industrial robot programming and teaching.
  • Experience with AGVs/AMRs programming and setup.
  • Familiarity with safety scanners and programming.
  • Understanding of various industrial controls networking, including EthernetIP, FLNet, and ProfiNet.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience is a plus.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Georgetown, KY.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
