Nestl Purina PetCare is hiring for a Controls Tech Specialist II in Crete, Nebraska. The role focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and enhancing PLC and PC-based automation systems. You will oversee PLC upgrades and wiring modifications, collaborating with the maintenance team on production line changes.

Work is on second or third shift. The position requires a high school diploma or GED with 5+ years of PLC/HMI experience, or an associate degree with 3+ years of related experience.

• Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams; update documentation as needed.

Position Summary

Our factory in Crete, Nebraska is one of the area’s largest manufacturers and among the largest wet pet food facilities in the country. Together, we proudly produce over 1k tons of pet food each day, including trusted brands like Alpo, Nestl Purina ONE, Pro Plan, Friskies, and Nestl Purina Veterinary Diets. As we work together to feed pets nationwide, we also care for the environment through water conservation, renewable electricity, and zero waste for disposal. As a Controls Tech Specialist II, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining and enhancing the accuracy, reliability and system control’s data credibility of PLC and PC-based automation systems. In this role, you will oversee PLC upgrades and wiring modifications on production equipment, and work directly with our maintenance team to troubleshoot and support production line modifications.

Work Schedule: The position will be assigned to either 2nd shift (3:00 PM 11:00 PM) or 3rd shift (11:00 PM 7:00 AM)

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting of automation systems and provides instrumentation, PLC and HMI/SCADA software and hardware support to the maintenance staff.
• Execute plant projects and capital projects through conception to completion.
• Maintain an up-to-date and complete set of as-built electrical and controls documentation.
• Coordinate and implement control system software upgrades.
• Perform Network Administration and Data Administration tasks for networked, PC based, control systems related equipment.
• Develop, read, and interpret all electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and programs essential to plant operation; provide updates as necessary.
• Must be available for on-call rotation during off hours.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 5+ years’ applicable experience in PLC software and hardware troubleshooting and/or HMI-systemsin controls, automation, electrical, or industrial maintenance environments

OR

• Associate’s degree in a technical discipline.
• 3+ years’ applicable experience in PLC software and hardware troubleshooting and/or HMI-systemsin controls, automation, electrical, or industrial maintenance environments

• Must be available for on-call rotation during off hours.

Salary: $84,863.70 to$115,982.00 per year

The pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at top of range.
