STACK is seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to serve as a BMS & EPMS subject matter expert within the Innovation and Engineering team (I&E). This role is responsible for supporting the design and execution of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) across STACK projects. The Project Controls Manager will partner with Preconstruction, Construction leadership, design teams, and OFCI vendors to establish, maintain, and govern controls requirements that support informed decision-making and successful project execution.

The Project Controls Manager will review design drawing packages prepared by Engineers of Record, evaluate mechanical and electrical equipment submittal packages, and coordinate requirements between design teams, construction teams, controls contractors, and equipment vendors. This role will work directly with construction teams throughout project execution and assist with commissioning activities to help ensure the installed controls systems align with the approved design and project requirements.

As the controls SME on the I&E team, this individual must have a strong understanding of the mechanical and electrical systems throughout the building and how those systems are monitored and controlled. The Project Controls Manager will review customer specifications, translate controls requirements to the appropriate project stakeholders, and work with design teams to ensure those requirements are incorporated into the project design.

Key Attributes

  • Ability to read, interpret, and review construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems and their associated monitoring and controls.
  • Experience with BMS and/or EPMS systems; candidates with deep expertise in either mechanical or electrical controls are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to review mechanical and electrical equipment submittals for controls-related requirements and design alignment.
  • Ability to review customer specifications and work with design teams to incorporate requirements into project documentation.
  • Strong understanding of the construction process and the coordination required between design, construction, vendors, and controls contractors.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and the ability to effectively navigate project documentation.
  • Self-driven, technically curious, and capable of operating as a subject matter expert while working across multiple project stakeholders.
  • Ability to independently interpret customer or owner requirements and work with design teams to translate those requirements into executable project documentation.

THE DETAILS:

  • Location: Remote
  • Domestic travel required: up to 20-30%
  • Benefits: Healthcare, Dental Care, Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Paid Leave Programs
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in controls, MEP design, construction, commissioning, or a closely related field supporting complex facilities.
  • Experience working directly with design engineers, general contractors, controls contractors, equipment vendors, and construction teams through design and execution.
  • Experience with data center or mission-critical facility construction is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of the construction and commissioning process, including the ability to support issue resolution from design through turnover.
