Job summary

Daifuku Airport America Corporation seeks an experienced Controls Project Engineer to lead the controls development and delivery of airport baggage security systems. You will partner with the project manager, engineering staff, and the customer to deliver successful projects.

You will guide electrical layouts, control panel drawings, wiring schematics, operations descriptions, PLC programming, and graphical reporting.

Qualifications

  • BSEE, E.T., or a relevant technical degree, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in industrial automation controls design and commissioning.
  • Experience managing a project and related people resources.
  • Scheduling and estimating experience.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC Programming (ControlLogix).
  • Experience within the material handling industry, preferred.
  • Experience with material handling equipment, preferred.
  • Baggage handling experience, preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of Controls Engineers, including performance reviews, timecards, and adherence to employment requirements.
  • Execute projects from conception through client handover.
  • Coordinate a team of controls engineers and detailers in cooperation with a mechanical engineering team and project management.
  • Manage requirements, integration, and configuration changes throughout projects.
  • Engage team members by delegation of work both long‑term and day‑to‑day.
  • Creatively solve problems to optimize resources, scheduling, and budget.
  • Meet timelines to ensure projects stay on schedule and on budget.
  • Coach team members on project execution and propose technical solutions for complex problems.
  • Oversee system functionality and technical quality of automated applications.
  • Attend design review meetings with the customer.
  • Support proposals and customer inquiries; estimate new project work.
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives.
  • 20% travel

We are currently seeking an experienced Controls Project Engineer. The Project Engineer manages the controls development and delivery of airport baggage security systems. You will partner with the project manager, engineering staff, and our customer to deliver a successful project. You will lead a team designing electrical device layouts, control panel drawings, wiring schematics, descriptions of operations, PLC programming, and graphical reporting systems.

Major Areas of Responsibility

Demonstrated Physical Abilities

Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read, identify, and assess forms and correspondence.
