Actalent in Addison, TX is seeking a senior Controls Manager to lead large-scale automation programs in data centers, industrial facilities, and mission-critical environments. Qualifications

  • 5-10+ years of experience in controls engineering, automation, electrical construction, project management, or related fields.
  • Strong project management experience, including scheduling, forecasting, budgeting, and earned value management.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, automation systems, and engineering documentation practices.
  • Experience reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and coordinate complex construction projects.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

Overview

We're seeking a Controls Manager to lead large-scale, mission-critical automation projects in industrial and data center environments. This role combines project leadership, controls engineering, electrical systems expertise, and construction oversight to deliver complex Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and automation solutions.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in controls, electrical construction, or automation engineering and is excited about leading teams, managing major projects, and solving complex technical challenges from concept through commissioning.

What You'll Do
  • Lead controls and automation projects from design through commissioning and startup.

QualificationsRequired

Preferred
  • Previous experience as a Controls Engineer transitioning into project or operations leadership.

  • Data center, mission-critical, industrial manufacturing, or large-scale construction project experience.

  • Experience working with general contractors, electrical contractors, and commissioning teams.

  • Knowledge of PLC controls, instrumentation, industrial networking, and automation systems.

  • Experience with Ignition or similar SCADA/automation platforms.

  • background in project controls, cost management, and construction scheduling.

  • Commissioning experience involving BMS, EPMS, and electrical infrastructure systems.

Travel & Work Environment
  • Up to 100% travel to project sites nationwide.

  • Extended project assignments ranging from 1-3 years at a single location.

  • Work environments include data centers, industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, construction sites, and office settings.

  • Typical schedule is Monday-Friday with occasional weekend work depending on project demands.

  • Company-paid housing, airfare, meals, and travel expenses while on assignment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
